Principal:

Dear Preschool Families,

We kicked off October with beautiful fall weather and the start of our fun-filled field trips to R & J Farms Pumpkin Patch. Our students had a wonderful time riding the hay wagon out to the fields and picking their very own special pumpkins—a perfect way to celebrate the fall season!

This month, our students are also learning about fire safety as we prepare for Fire Prevention Week. To cap off this important learning, we were excited to welcome the Scullville and Bargaintown Fire Departments this past Monday for a special visit. The children had the opportunity to see the fire trucks up close, learn about Stop, Drop, and Roll, and even practice this important safety skill. They also had the exciting opportunity to hold a real fire hose!

It was truly a special assembly, as our students were able to meet, interact with, and learn from our local heroes. We are incredibly thankful to the Bargaintown and Scullville Fire Companies for taking the time to visit our preschool students and help teach them such important lessons about fire safety.

Party Participation Forms:
Parents/Guardians, please remember to return your party participation form to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, October 9th, so we can begin organizing parent helpers. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation. Please know that teachers will do their best to accommodate your selections; however, if the number of volunteers exceeds the number of available spots, names will be selected through a random drawing. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to make our classroom celebrations special for everyone.

Positive Behavior Support:
As part of our district-wide initiative and to promote Positive Behavior Support, each building has implemented age-appropriate expectations that are taught, modeled, and reinforced throughout the school day. We encourage you to talk with your child about our S.O.A.R. expectations and discuss why these behaviors are important both in and out of school.

Upcoming Dates:
  • Slaybaugh Primary Picture Day: October 20
  • Bargaintown School Picture Day: October 21
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another fun and productive week ahead!
Warm regards,
Joe Marinelli
Principal

We had so much fun learning, pretending, and exploring all the different ways community helpers help us!  What a fun-filled week of learning about the amazing people who make our community such a special place!
