Principal:

Dear Preschool Families,

It’s hard to believe that June is already here and we have just 4 Mondays of school remaining in the year! We began the week by observing Memorial Day — a meaningful time to honor and remember the brave individuals who gave their lives while serving our country. To those in our community who have lost a loved one in service, we offer our deepest gratitude and heartfelt respect. I hope your family had the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful Memorial Day parade to mark the occasion.

With only 24 school days remaining, we are looking forward to several fun and meaningful end-of-year activities with our students. Our PreK Fun Days are quickly approaching:
  • June 4th: Bargaintown and PreK H.S. students will participate in Fun Day activities on the Slaybaugh fields.
  • June 5th: Slaybaugh Primary students will enjoy their Fun Day activities.

These special days are always filled with smiles, laughter, and great memories for our students and staff.

We are also excited to invite families to our Kindergarten Transition Parent Workshop on June 11th at 5:30 PM at Slaybaugh Primary School. This event is a great opportunity to learn more about the transition to Kindergarten and what families can expect in the coming year. Please see the flyer below for additional details.

End-of-year celebrations will take place on one of the following dates: June 16th, 17th, 18th, or 19th. Your child’s teacher will share additional information as the dates approach. These special events are an opportunity for teachers to reflect on the wonderful learning, growth, and fun our students have experienced throughout the year. Please note that this is not a preschool graduation, as many of our students will either be returning next fall or moving on to kindergarten.

To help us manage space and ensure a smooth event for everyone, we kindly ask that attendance be limited to two adults per child, and that no siblings or children under 18 attend. Additionally, if you plan to bring in food for the celebration, please check with your child’s teacher to ensure all items are school allergy-safe.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout this school year. We look forward to making these last few weeks as special and memorable as the rest of the year has been.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Joe Marinelli
Principal

Fresh fruit and big smiles!

Today we had a special visit from our school chef, Mr. Patel, and his assistant, Kristen! They came to teach us about healthy eating as part of our restaurant study in preschool. The children learned about healthy foods and had the opportunity to taste a delicious fruit platter. It was a fun and hands-on way to explore new foods and learn about making healthy choices!

Preschoolers Experience A Mini-Bootcamp!

The preschoolers in Ms. Garman's, Ms. Claudia's, Ms. Bernadette's, and Ms. Brenda's classrooms had their annual preschool mini-bootcamp with the JROTC. Students in the Air Force set up exciting exercises, drills, and obstacle courses for the children to earn their very own certificate of completion. They had a blast learning how to form their bodies like an airplane to do the unique Air Force push-up!

Growing Together: Exploring the Garden

Miss Jenni and Miss Jen's class are learning all about gardening in their new study. The kids planted flowers and vegetables and are learning how to care for them every day. We can't wait to see the results!

Ms. Paige and Ms. Danielle's class is embarking on an exciting insect hunt adventure! We discovered the fascinating world of bugs, from tiny ants to colorful butterflies, and explored nature in a whole new way!
