Principal:

Dear Preschool Families,

As we approach Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer, it is amazing to see how quickly this school year has passed. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming your children into our classrooms, and now we are preparing to celebrate the many wonderful memories and accomplishments made throughout the year.

Memorial Day is also a time to pause and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We extend our gratitude and remembrance to all who have been impacted by their sacrifice.

Preschool registration for the 2026–2027 school year remains open. If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling, please visit our district website at www.eht.k12.nj.us and click on the registration banner for more information.

We are also excited to invite families to our Kindergarten Transition Parent Workshop on June 11th at 5:30 PM at Slaybaugh Primary School. This event is a great opportunity to learn more about the transition to Kindergarten and what families can expect in the coming year. Please see the flyer below for additional details.

With only 24 school days remaining, we are looking forward to several fun and meaningful end-of-year activities with our students. Our PreK Fun Days are quickly approaching:
  • June 4th: Bargaintown and PreK H.S. students will participate in Fun Day activities on the Slaybaugh fields.
  • June 5th: Slaybaugh Primary students will enjoy their Fun Day activities.

These special days are always filled with smiles, laughter, and great memories for our students and staff.

End-of-year celebrations will take place on one of the following dates: June 16th, 17th, 18th, or 19th. Your child’s teacher will share additional information as the dates approach.

As we prepare for these celebrations, we kindly ask families to view them as a chance to recognize and celebrate the children’s growth, learning, and accomplishments throughout the year. Since many of our students will continue with us next year while others move on to Kindergarten, we ask that families please refrain from bringing graduation-style items such as caps, gowns, or graduation-themed decorations. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us keep the focus on celebrating every child’s unique preschool journey.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. It has been a wonderful year, and we look forward to making the final weeks together both meaningful and memorable.

Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli
Principal

Discovering How Plants Drink!

Ms. Jenn & Ms. Brooke’s class explored how plants need water to grow by doing a fun celery experiment with colored water! We connected this activity to the seeds we planted and observed how plants “drink” water through their stems.

Appreciation and Togetherness

The students in Ms. Casey and Ms. Jenna’s class recently hosted a belated Mother’s Day Tea to honor the incredible mothers and caregivers in our community. The classroom was filled with laughter, treats, and special moments as students expressed their appreciation. Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this event so memorable!

Tiny Feet, Big Discoveries!

Our preschool students enjoyed a wonderful field trip to the Wetlands Museum! The children explored the beautiful marshlands, observed nature up close, and learned about the plants and animals that call the wetlands home. It was a fun-filled day of discovery, fresh air, and hands-on learning that sparked curiosity and excitement in our young explorers.
