Week of March 1, 2026

Principal:

Dear Preschool Families,

What an exciting week we've had! This first week of March was filled with so much joy as we celebrated Read Across America Week. Our focus was on fostering a love of reading, and it was heartwarming to see our students so engaged during our special themed days and while listening to our wonderful guest readers.

A huge thank you to all of the special guests who rearranged their schedules to join us and read to the children. Your participation truly made the week memorable!

It was also an honor for me to read to the students. There is nothing quite like watching their faces light up as stories come to life. Their excitement and enthusiasm were infectious, and it served as a beautiful reminder of how important it is to nurture a love of books and learning at such a young age.

It was especially meaningful that we came together this past Wednesday, March 4, to wear orange in support of inclusion and respect for everyone. Thank you for your continued support in helping us reinforce these important values with our students.

As we look ahead, I want to remind everyone that Preschool lottery registration is now open for the 2026-2027 school year. Lottery applications are being accepted until April 1, 2026. If you have a child who will be eligible, be sure to visit the district's website at www.eht.k12.nj.us to submit your application. If your child is attending our preschool program this year, you do not need to register for next school year.

A couple of other important reminders:
Our Preschool Program Spring Dance will be held on Friday, March 20. Please see the flyer below for additional details.

Our Spring Classroom Parties are just around the corner on Friday, March 27. An email with all of the details was sent last week, and a copy of the letter is included below for your reference. Please note that there is one letter for Bargaintown School and a separate letter for Slaybaugh Primary School.

Room Parents are welcome to arrive 30 minutes early to assist with set-up; however, please be sure to coordinate with the classroom teacher in advance. A few friendly reminders for parents who were selected to help with the classroom parties:
  • For safety and security, please enter and exit the building only through the main entrance.
  • No siblings, children under the age of 18, or additional family members may attend.
  • Please adhere to the allergy-safe snack list provided below.
  • Treat bags should contain non-food items only. Due to the young age of our students, it is safest to keep treat bags free of food or candy items.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Joe Marinelli
Principal

Celebrating Creativity and Companionship

Ms. Alzate's class hosted a "Pet Adoption Day." Our students were able to pick a "pet stuffie" to adopt, coinciding with our current pet study. They also made collars for their pets using beads and pipe cleaners to help identify them. A few parents were able to join us and celebrate such a fun, memorable afternoon together!

"An Adventurous Pet Scavenger Hunt"

Ms. Jenn Appiah and Ms. Brooke’s class went on an exciting pet scavenger hunt around the school. The children eagerly searched for different types of pets, such as dogs, cats, and birds, hidden in various locations. As they found each pet, they enthusiastically checked it off their lists and shared their discoveries with friends and teachers. The activity encouraged teamwork, observation skills, and a sense of adventure among the students.
